Kidz Bop Music Mashed Up With Sexy Videos by the Original Artists

With the release of Kidz Bop 18 -- yes, 18 -- the web is abuzz about the painful sanitization of pop music lyrics to kiddie jams. That got the Urlbots to thinking, how would these kid-friendly versions go along with the track's original music videos? The answer: not very well.

From Gaga's man-humping to to Fergie's drug dealing, these synched-up videos show you why Kidz Bopifying a tune just makes things awkward.

'Alejandro,' Lady Gaga

To try and kid-ify any Lady Gaga song is a daunting task -- even when she's talking about muffins, she doesn't really mean baked goods -- but transforming the sexy Alejandro. Swapping out lyrics about daddy issues and cigarette smoke can be awkward, but pair the Kidz Bop version with the homoerotic video and you can really see how much this doesn't work. (If the Kidz would stick with simple songs the video translation would work much better.)

'California Gurls,' Katy Perry

The song makes a lyric change to get rid of "sex on the beach" but these tykes can still "melt your popcicle." Well, I guess if we take that literally? The Candyland-themed video really does fit the kids vocals ... until Katy Perry is naked covered in cotton candy and shooting whipped cream out of her breasts.

'Umbrella,' Rihanna

This is the rare case where the Kidz Bop version of the song actually works really well with the songs theme (you're my friend, I will share my umbrella with you -- this song is basically perfect for a Sesame Street episode) yet highlights how absurd the actual video is for that theme. Why is Rihanna in ballet slippers if it's raining!?

'Big Girls Don't Cry,' Fergie

With Fergie, you start wishing they'd actually changed the lyrics to be more kid friendly, but unfortunately "I'm going to miss you like a child misses a blanket" is original. But little did we know this video was about drug dealing. No wonder poor Fergie is tearful.

When were were looking for our next epic battle animal after puppies, the gut choice was of course hamster battles. And they do not disappoint. This hamster attempts to take on the very laws of nature and tries to thwart gravity in a daring monkeybar-eqsue escape across the top of his cage. We can't really have a vote on this one, because mother nature always wins, but turn your sound up and enjoy this brave little hamster's valiant attempt.

This week, we're changing things up with a Kitty Versus! Kitty battles can be just as epic as Puppy ones. This kitty is far too impatient to wait for the paper to finish printing before tearing it to shreds. The kitty even tries to get at the paper before the printer does its magic.

We know it's a little unfair that the printer is a stationary object, but we still think it's only fair to put it up for a vote.

We have to admit, it seems like the puppy doesn't exactly get the point of tetherball here. You have to get it all the way around the pole, but puppy is happy chasing the ball back and worth and back and forth. Maybe the tetherball is just too smart for the puppy. That said, if this video was a .gif we'd watch it forever.

This Yorkshire Terrier puppy has a lot of other toys to distract him, but that pesky water bottle really gets his goat. Puppy circles it, tries to intimidate it with barks, and then tries the ignore method. "Oh water bottle, I don't even care that you're there, I have this tiny plastic tire to chew on instead." But puppy can't keep up his nonchalance for long, and he always comes back to battle the water bottle. Little puppy, there isn't even any water in that bottle!

Puppy Vs. Ball

In a new on-going feature, we bring to you the most intense of epic battles... Puppy Versus ______. There's nothing in the world more energetic than a puppy who will face off with just about anything.

Tiny ball is just sitting there, minding its own business, but puppy is having none of that. This Sheltie starts his ball attack by leaping around in a semi-circle yipping at the stationary ball. When that fails to provoke a response, puppy tries the silent treatment, staring the unresponsive ball down. A few subtle nips get a faint jingle from the ball, but nothing more. And, well, we don't want to spoil the ending, but we think it's pretty clear who won this round (plus a bonus clip of a child's baseball game at the end -- we love home movies!)

'Pants On The Ground' Rocks 'American Idol'

While American Idol is most known for either stellar singing stars or atrocious singing failures in the few weeks of competition, sometimes a contender comes along who somehow straddles both sides and emerges as something better. Enter General Larry Platt.

Platt showed up at the Atlanta auditions to perform his self-penned song "Pants on the Ground," which has a simple melody but a message of utmost pants importance:

Pants on the ground
Pants on the ground
Lookin' like a fool with you pants on the ground
Gold in your mouth
Hat turned sideways, pants hit the ground
Call yourself a cool cat looking like a fool
Walking down town
With your pants on the ground!

While the song, and his performance (which included some fierce moves and culminated in a pretty impressive split for a man of any age), are sweeping the nation, Platt isn't just an Idol for this alone. He's also a veteran of the civil rights movement and appears on the main photos of the Veterans of the Southern Freedom Movement website (the man at the far left is a 16 year old Platt), who protested alongside Martin Luther King, Jr. in the 1960s. The mayor of Atlanta has given Platt a day in his honor for his participation in the movement, and for his continued fight for equality to this day.

Although Idol judge Simon Cowell calls the song a hit, Platt is unfortunately too old for the competition and won't be joining the other contestants in Hollywood. Hopefully the song will live on in the Idol universe -- it would be a much better song for the winner to sing than anything Kara DioGuardi can come up with!

This week's entry comes from Urlesque reader, Sara, and features Rose, her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy. Rose's sworn enemy is the Mason Pearson boar-bristle hairbrush.

According to Sara, "She was fine with it until I dragged the brush bristle-side-down across the duvet, and this made her go insane." We felt like puppy was doing pretty well until you get to the end, when hairbrush deals a fateful blow. Even blanket gets in on the action and gets in the way of puppy's takedown. Who comes out on top in this battle? You decide!

Avril Lavigne 'Girlfriend' - #59 - The 100 Most Iconic Internet Videos

Pop-punk songstress Avril Lavigne's anthem to girlfriend-hating and man-stealing holds the top spot on YouTube for the most viewed video of all time, but it didn't get there truly organically. Avril's die-hard fans at AvrilBandAids.com were the first to successfully game YouTube view counts in a massive way by using a complex scheme to cheat the system by opening browsers that refreshed every 15 seconds to repeatedly play the video. They then used the publicity from their cheating scheme to push the clip over the top virally. Well played, mall punks.

'Twilight' Collections Make Us Sparkle (Show Us Your Junk)

The Twilight Saga: New Moon mania has been taking over in the past few weeks, all coming to a head with the release of the movie tomorrow, November 20th. To celebrate, Show Us Your Junk is taking a special look at Twilight collections. From the basics of books and posters to the ultimate get -- creepy Edward Cullen life-size cut out -- these videos have it all.

ALL THINGS FANPIRE, in glitter text. Maybe that's all you need to know? But there's also explanatory story telling through images found on the internet and a scan of his movie stub. He got most of his collection at Hot Topic -- shocking! Also the end credits are to 'Just Dance' and scrolled over the baseball scene from the last movie. Which makes us want to watch the movie, proving that adding Lady Gaga to anything is a surefire winner.

This took them two days to do but they failed to include any sound. There is, however, sped up action and some info on their "creeper E-bay seller" who sends them weird old fashioned pictures along with their Twilight purchases (of course you have to pause the video to read any of the text). It ends with the twins lounging in bed under a Edward blanket that actually does look warm, if creepy.

Homemade Twilight cheer box! We didn't even know cheer boxes existed, and that you could make them Twilight-themed, but this fan has done it. Creepy Edward cardboard cutout (even the videographer admits it scares her!) and a Twilight jewlery box are this collection's standouts! This fan also has poster signed by the entire cast, which we'll admit is pretty impressive.

This videographer has a great, well put together intro to her work. She's also got another creepy Edward cutout, and a guitar she's named after Robert Pattinson. We also see all the receipts for Twilight things she bought, her fish, and so many T-shirts. We can't wait to see them all on the dollar rack in thrift stores across the country in five years.

Everyone has tried out a Rubik's cube puzzle at least once in their lives, and most of us put it down frustrated or started trying to peel off the colored stickers to cheat the system. But not these intrepid collectors, who are all about cube puzzles. Puzzles of all shapes and sizes, themes and designs, all lovingly (and sometimes awkwardly) documented in the videos below.

This video does feature some actual puzzle solving and a really neat contraption that times your puzzle work that we think would be fun to use to time your completion of any general tasks. Candle Collections Light Us Up (Show Us Your Junk)

Candles are the kind of thing everyone buys for their house because they think they might need them someday, or they're a cheap and easy decorating tool. But then months later we realize that we've never lit them and probably never will because then they won't look as pretty, so instead they sit collecting dust on our bookshelves and in pantry drawers. So hats off to these candle enthusiasts who know that buying candles is all about -- collecting them and documenting that collection on YouTube, not pretending you might use them someday.

There is a lot of time spent discussing the light settings for this epic film, and then our videographer spends 8 minutes telling us exactly where EACH candle and candle holder came from. Did you know that when his other candle broke his grandmother gave him the gold on as replacement? And do you know what the most recent candle purchase was? I can't tell you, because there will be a quiz at the end of this blog post.

This is not in English, so we have no idea what is going on. We went to the trusty Wikipedia to find out who Quang Vinh is and apparently he's a Vietnamese singer, and some of his favorite artists include Mariah Carey and Thahn Lam (no idea). No clue as to why there's a whole video of him with candles. Regardless, some of the candles look pretty cool though, and we enjoy that the interview is conducted sitting on the floor of someone's awkwardly decorated house (violins and wreathes on the walls, really?). Add to that the techno Vietnamese music in the background and you've got gold.

This video of a midwestern woman and her mom discussing candles is slow getting started, but hold out til 2:50 for the gold that is the discussion of how a taper candle sort of looks like a penis, and then mom unconsciously strokes said candle til the end of the video. We're sorry.

Pogs Slam Their Way Into Our Hearts Again Through YouTube (Show Us Your Junk)

In a new weekly feature, we investigate proud packrats who put their weird collections on display to the captive web audience. From Pogs, to Beanie Babies and stamps, Internet, show us your junk!

While the game of Pogs dates as far back as the 1920s, most people were unaware of it until the 1990s commercialized and neon-ized it for mass consumption. Suddenly you couldn't escape it, and everyone in your class was collecting the cardboard discs and plastic (or, if you were really fancy, glass or metal) slammers. We categorized them, put them in protective sleeves and tubes, and obsessively traded or battled our friends to expand our collections. But just as swiftly as Pogs entered our hearts, they exited to collect dust with our slap bracelets and and Beanie Babies. Nonetheless, Pogs live on in YouTube form, as shown in the tantalizing collections below.

The videographer asks us to watch this in high quality but I can't figure out why. It's still blurry shots of a pog collection set to Jason Mraz's 'I'm Yours.' The video is only 1 minute long, but then the song goes on for another 3. Why has no one helped this person cut his music?

This person claims he "heard" that someone who had 63 pogs could get 20 british pounds for them. He's wondering what his pogs might be worth. Judging by the 22 views and zero comments, we think you all can figure out that answer to that.
