Back Dorm BoysYet another example of the varied and often bizarre Obama-related creativity spawned by the internet. Barely Political recruited a model named Amber Lee Ettinger to lip sync a song fantasizing about the then Presidential candidate, and it took off like viral wildfire -- largely because it gave political cable news hosts an excuse to show a big-breasted twenty-something in a bikini. As the initial Obama Girl video turned into a series, the novelty started to wear off, but it was kinda fun while it lasted... right?

Shortly following Hillary Clinton's comeback in the 2008 New Hampshire Democratic Primary, will.i.am put together a star-studded video that turned a Barack Obama speech into a music video that quickly became a widespread inspirational and cultural phenomenon. Capturing the zeitgeist of the growing Obamamania, the video racked up 4 million views within a week, and cemented Obama's status as the "cool" candidate who had his finger on the pulse of the internet and young people. This video turned "Yes We Can" into a rallying cry that would carry Obama to the Presidency.

This is a mash-up that takes the classic 'talking to the aliens with flashing lights' scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind and replaces the repeating tones with "Dueling Banjos." The structure of the song is a perfect fit for the back-and-forth nature of the scene, and after some nifty editing by Marc Bullard, who created the video, the tempo of the song seems to match the blinking lights perfectly.
