This years Rube Goldberg competition asked college students take the simple task of watering a flower. Not only did a team from Purdue University beat out all the competition this year with this complex device, but they also crushed the previous world record by over 244 steps!
The machine also tells the story about the history of the world starting with the big bang and ending with the still looming apocalypse. My hat is off to the winning team for such a creative contraption. Watering a flower has never been this complicated.

Ummm correction there Alex. Purdue did not beat their competition, unless you were refering to their Regional Competition. At the National Competition, University of Wisconsin-Stout took first again this year, Purdue didn't even place.
