The Tempest Freerunning Academy in Los Angeles just opened April 2, and this promotional video where they show off their cool Super Mario-themed equipment has forced me to Google freerunning. It's considered 'urban acrobatics' but is somehow different than parkour due to nuances that aren't immediately evident to my human brain.
Anyway, take a couple minutes this afternoon and watch some footage of people flipping off of Nintendo structures set to Ellie Goulding. You've earned it.

Very time I see folks 'free running' it seems like they are just doing it to show off their self proclaimed bad ass break dancing and gymnastics skills. This video doesn't help that perception. perhaps they should call it 'free flipping' instead.
whereas a friend once explained parkour to me as "why walk around the wall when you can jump over it"
