I don't want to believe this is real. I thought for sure that it had to be a joke but the more I looked into it the more and more I began to realize that this trailer for a cartoon called "The Governator" might actually be a real show endorsed by Stan Lee and Arnold Schwarzenegger and everything. Is this going to be Arnold's return to acting? Can anyone debunk this as a April Fools Joke?
This trailer says that "The Governator" will be coming out sometime in 2012 and it looks like a battle suit wearing ex-governor will be fighting money stealing, armored car destroying robots from the future. Entertainment Weekly even interviewed Arnold asking him about it and he is quoted saying,
"When I ran for governor back in 2003 and I started hearing people talking about 'the Governator,' I thought the word was so cool. The word Governator combined two worlds: the world of politics and the movie world. And [this cartoon] brings everything together. It combines the governor, the Terminator, the bodybuilding world, the True Lies..."
It sounds legit but it sounds like a pretty stupid idea to me. But who am I to judge? My favorite cartoon growing up featured crime fighting mutated turtles, addicted to pizza and trained in martial arts by a mutated rat who fought a giant brain with a robot body. Maybe this isn't so far fetched after all. I just can't get over that this will be his return to acting, unless you count his tiny, uncredited role in "The Expendables" which was such a tease. I would have loved to see old Arnie snap some necks with all the other action heroes!
After The Fact Spoiler Alert: Arnie didn't snap any necks in his tiny role in "The Expendables" and I am sorry if I ruined that for anyone.
