ukelele bach cover by taimane Ukulele player (ukulelist?) Taimane has done the unthinkable and made a Bach song 'internet cool'.

While it's not a straight-up cover of Bach's "Toccata" as advertised (she also mixes in some Carmen and Phantom of the Opera), it's still crazy good.

And she's wearing a tiny top hat! Everyone loves miniature fashions!

Update: We have checked with our experts and she is, in fact, playing an 8-string ukulele!

A ukulele is a four string instrument. A banjo is a five string instrument and a guitar is either six or twelve string instrument.
Taimane is playing a six string guitar, not a Ukulele!
Playing classical music on a guitar is nothing new...even the TV huckster "Esteban" did so beautifully. Andre Segovia was the Master.

You are correct about the guitar, banjo, and uke. If you were truly paying attention you would realize she is playing a mandolin.

You had better do a recount. Her instrument only has 4 strigs. I don't think a 4 string guitar has been made since about 1920 or 1930?

It's a uke. An 8 string Tenor uke, not a mandolin or guitar.

A ukulele is a four string instrument and much smaller than a guitar. And a banjo, Can be a 4 or 5 string. She IS playing a ukulele. There IS a big difference in the sound of a Uku and Guitar.I think you should study alittle more on the differences of them. Like a song I heard the other day-- "Look It Up"

i think u should learn to count the tuning heads or (machine heads) on her instrument & u will plainly see that there are 6 of them ,which makes this a GUITAR!!!!

theres 8 strings. I dont understand what the problem is. If you listen to her play it obviously sounds like a ukulele and nothing like a guitar. 8 string ukuleles exist just like 12 string guitars exist
