Scumbag Steve aka Blake Boston interview

Brace yourself, Urlbots. You know that we've been following the Scumbag Steve meme pretty carefully since the Boston rapper's MySpace photo debuted in January. Since then, we've been in cahoots with the Boston rapper himself to produce a real-life video for lovers and haters of the meme.

Just days before the video was finalized, I received some hesitant words from Mr. Boston:
"Wendy, do you think its stupid to do this now tho? Is it like yesterdays news?"
Our answer, of course, was an adamant no! Though memes tend to burst on the scene and fizzle days later, Scumbag Steve is a bit different, don't you think?

Maybe it's the fact that Boston showed more color and depth than revealed by the infamous hat and the hip-hop pics. Maybe it's that he ended up being the opposite of the Scumbag Steve meme itself. Whatever it is, Blake Boston's a keeper.

That's why, with the help of our friend Sean O'Connor from the web show Rough Draft, we're proud to present to you an exclusive video. Do note that this video is 100% Blake Boston-approved. According to our email correspondence, he viewed the finished video, "in case there's some shit thats not cool."

Blake tells us,

"I dont think I did very well on it, but honestly i dont really care."

After viewing the video, we think he's just being modest. What do you think? Anyone smell a career in TV for one of the Internet's favorite memes?



We asked him about his real name, assuming that a Boston rapper couldn't actually have the surname Boston. But he says it's real, and yeah, they get that a lot. "We use 'Smith' when we order Chinese."
