Troy Hartman built a jetpack out of a military UAV and decided to take it skiing. The result? Speeds of 47 MPH at half-throttle. That is some terrifyingly fast skiing. In another test run, Hartman was actually able to jet UP a Black Diamond run. How soon can we make these things commercially available?
Also, I'm confused about how this was filmed. If Troy is going 47MPH on skiis ... then who was camera?

Hey Dumazz. This is 47 mph on flat land or uphill. Of course anyone can go fast downhill, you totally missed the point. I'm sure you are otherwise really brilliant with your IQ of 72

The link to the article reads "Man skis downhill with jetpack". I think the point is on the top of your head.

Camera probably is a GoPro HD. Check em out on Amazon. Look on YouTube. People use them them for some pretty cool shots.

I don't see a picture of him, but is Jay Hathaway 8 years old? I have skied faster than that downhill without assistance. He couldn't figure out who the cameraman was? Give me a break! Don't have retards writing your articles.

What makes me think this writer isn't that bright is that he asked who was holding the camera. Obviously someone on a snowmobile was filming. He had one camera on his ski and another shooting in his left hand. What he should have pointed out was how cool it was that this guy built the jet pack in the first place.

47 mph is not a big deal, recreational skiers do it ALL THE TIME. And please proof read your article idiot - "If Troy is going 47MPH on skiis ... then who was camera? huh??! "Who was camera?" Come on

Cool!
The camera work was done with a ski tip mount and by holding the cam in his left hand. Throttle was in his right hand. No magic to it. Just two cameras, both his.

You need to find one "11 Years Younger" than you. Keep looking through the comment sections, you'll find the address.

My questions are:
Why did he only go at half throttle? 47 is not slow for sure, but it's not all that fast when comparing it to speeds by others without a jet pack.
Where is the footage of him going up the mentioned black diamond run? That would have been more interesting to see how that worked out.

The world speed skiing record is 155+mph. I often will turn and go up the hill on merging trail when it safe to do so. The recreational skier will go 45mph with little of no effort at all, gavity works wonders.
