What happens when '40s-style hardboiled detectives meet 2011-style social networking? It's "Hard Boiled," a Foursquare film noir from recently-launch YouTube duo The Indie Machines. Foursquare Film Noir follows a gumshoe who's trying to solve a murder using a trail of digital breadcrumbs. The victim is a classic oversharer, with blogs, tweets, Craigslist ads and (of course) Foursquare check-ins.
The plot involves a detective (duh), a femme fatale (duh) and a lie exposed using archive.org (LOL). Wait for the twist ending, which brings a new meaning to the term "hardboiled." You've definitely got to give this short points for the concept and the production values, and it's got me eagerly awaiting the Indie Machines' next effort.
