Rapper B.o.B. surprised a recent Delta flight to Los Angeles by performing his hit song "Airplanes" over the intercom system before takeoff.

Delta is the Official Airline of the 53rd Grammy Awards, and the flight attendant mentions the fact that B.o.B. has six nominations during his intro, so this thing is very clearly a publicity stunt -- but that's some pretty awesome surprise in-flight entertainment.

After seeing this, I can't help but wonder if Delta is trying to make surprise performances a "thing". Back in November, Kanye West gave an impromptu performance on a Delta flight, but all of the press surrounding the event made it sound like a spur-of-the-moment decision on West's part. This newest performance is clearly inspired by what Kanye did, which makes me wonder whether Delta is using Kanye's antics to update their viral strategy OR if Delta paid Kanye back in November and he just played it off like it was another mic-stealing incident a la Taylor Swift.

I guess only time will tell. In the meantime, Delta customers should keep their eyes peeled and cellphones ready for surprise performances. Something tells me this won't be the last one.
