Axe Cop, the webcomic about a super-tough cop with an axe, is written by six-year-old Malachai Nicolle and drawn by his 29-year-old brother Ethan. Dark Horse Comics picked up the story for print publication, and the first book came out less than a month ago. That's all pretty cool, but you're about to see the coolest part: Axe Cop has come to life as a short film.
Director Peter Muehlenberg adapted the first chapter of the comic into a fan-film that perfectly captures the Axe Cop aesthetic. The problem with such a fun, well-produced short film is that it's just not enough Axe Cop. It's two minutes of action-packed, dinosaur-killing bliss, but it only leaves fans yearning ever harder for a full-length Axe Cop flick. Hey, we can dream, right?

I think we should encourage creative thinking in children, but I am concerned when a six year old has created a cartoon about a cop who uses an ax. Children have way to many negative influences as the result of media. What affect does this exposure to violence have on their perspective towards cruelty and death as a necessary means to achieving a sinister goal? I wonder how much of this has to do with the lack of sensitivity to death and human suffering in the world today.

Come on guys, lighten up. Do you remember kids playing Cowboys and Indians? That's a game about people shooting each other. No blood, no real violence, just one kid saying, "Bang!" and another kid holding his chest as he pretends to fall down.
This is the same thing. The kid who wrote this isn't going to grow up to be a murderer. He just went up to his older brother and said, "One cop, he has an axe, and he has a partner, the partner has a flute, and they fight dinosaurs." That's not a cry for help, that's just a five year old using his imagination.
