In a 2003 PBS documentary called Off The Charts, which "takes an engaging look at the fascinating song-poem industry, where ordinary people mail in their poems to be set to music for a fee," we are introduced to Caglar Juan Singletary, whose song-poems involve things as far and wide as Tae Kwon Do, sharp-shooter Annie Oakley, and bicycles.
Calgar's grandma -- a dead ringer for Leontyne Price -- nearly steals the scene in the YouTube clip alone, pointing out that Calgar, a nonviolent person by nature, had his "firearms phase," just like all men, thus the Annie Oakley tribute. Okay!
Anyway, the good news is that this online clip does a great job at shining a light on Caglar who is, relatively speaking, either a brilliant genius or idiot savant, but the even better news is that the documentary can be viewed for free on SnagFilms.
