/soc/In an effort to cleanse 4chan's NSFW "random" board /b/ (the main board on the internet's most anarchic forum) from the glut of social-oriented posts, 4chan's founder moot created a new forum called /soc/, dedicated specifically to stuff like meet-up threads, for example.

Here are the stated rules:

1. Created to get "rate me," meetup, report in, cam, etc. threads out of /b/.
2. No whining (aka "BAWWW") threads.
3. Post only pictures of yourself-not others. This isn't a camwhore dump board.
4. Per the above rule, nudity is allowed so long as it is of yourself. AGAIN-THIS IS NOT A PORN DUMP BOARD.
Okay, here's what this all means.

Rate Me Threads

People post images of themselves. Everyone else rates them on a scale of "do not want" to "do want." Guys post pictures of their you-know-what's. Girls with low self esteems post bewbs.

Meetup Threads

People from the same geographic region plan to meet up IRL (In Real Life). Usually looks like, "Anybody in Duluth wana get high tonite? I got some dank from Africa..." But sometime's it's just a lonely dude who wants to share a late night breakfast at Denny's.

"Reporting In" Threads

"Virginians report in!" and other calls to action pepper /b/ all day long. Now they're intended to go in /soc/. These threads are just meant for regionally close people to talk about local stuff. Usually looks like:

"Anybody from Slippery Rock, PA in here?"
"Holy sh-t I'm in Slippery Rock right now!"
"Dude where you at I'm on Rt 8 by the Sheetz"
"No way bro I'm just behind the high school I could walk to your house right now."
"So you a Steelers fan?"

And then nothing happens.

Cam Threads

People post links to video streaming sites like Stickam and invite 4chan users to interact with them there.

I don't get it. Is there any good reason to remove all social activity from /b/? It's not the social threads that dilute /b/. The tedious stuff is as varied as the good stuff. This will just split /b/'s cultural power between two boards. Maybe that's moot's goal, but we don't know why.
