Back To The Future: The Ride -- based, of course, on the film trilogy of the same name -- still lives on at Universal Studios Japan. The ride lasted nearly sixteen years at Universal Studios in both Orlando and Hollywood before closing its doors in 2007. In fact, the ride in Florida was replaced by The Simpsons Ride, which features a cameo by Doc Brown himself, itself a fitting hat tip.
The Back To The Future ride, however, continues its journey through time in Japan, following the events of Back to the Future Part III. In the YouTube videos below, Brown invites riders into Doc Brown's Institute of Future Technology as "volunteers" in order to test out his newest invention, an eight-passenger DeLorean time machine.
The dated effects (and star turn by Darlene Vogel as Murphy Brown IFT receptionist Heather) make the ride deliciously nineties, but not without reminding us why the movie rocked so hard in the first place. The obvious question, of course is: Where's McFly?
