Guys touching noses on Jimmy FallonOrdinarily, a single feat of notable creativity, originality or pure brute force is hand-picked for the URDB Feat of the Week. This week, though, we have a whole year to remember. After taking a misty-eyed look back at the world records submitted from champions in over 35 countries, the URDB boffins have selected 11 favorite feats. Here are a few highlights -- the full list is available at Awesome World Records.com.

Though the year saw many an inventive record (Largest Group "Meow" Rendition Of 'Lean On Me' being just one example), accomplishments involving superior manual dexterity still have the power to impress. Steady-handed neurosurgeon Alon Mass kicks off the list at number 11 with his two-minute and 37.8-second completion of a two-ball game of Labyrinth.

Cheeky Brit Frazer Goodbody wins the prize for the best name, but he also scores number six on the list with Most Times Getting A Mattress World Employee To Say "Mattress" On A Phone Call. His eliciting of 12 mattresses in one call seemed unbeatable until Jake Bronstein used the old "Could you repeat yourself? You're breaking up" technique to extract 15 mentions of the word.

For the dictionary definition of "pure joy," look no further than Leo Laporte's face during record number four. While livecasting on stage with the guys from Diggnation at SXSW, the veteran tech journo wondered out loud what it would be like to crowdsurf atop the massive throng. Seconds later, he had his answer.

As for the record of the year, it involved prolonged nose-on-nose action between consenting adults, a pack of breath mints and a rock-solid friendship. Bob Officer and John Millheiser spent over 10-and-a-half hours with their faces mashed together. They were eventually separated by none other than Jimmy Fallon during his Late Night show.
