This week, 4chan's /b/ created an intentionally awful song called "The All American Anthem" and tried to make it popular to troll YouTube. I know what you're thinking: it's probably a half-baked mixture of cusses and porn, topped off with a dollop of racial slurs. Nope! It's actually "representing the beauty of the world in one note."
A single note drones for nearly two minutes, punctuated by two dissonant chords. The visual accompaniment is merely a still image of a hurr-durry Pikachu. And yet, somehow, the single note is kinda brilliant. It's meant as a troll, sure, but if you listen to it long enough, you'll hear whatever you want to hear.
To make The All-American Anthem even better, /b/tards have created a midi ringtone version and a guitar tab. There's even an a cappella version, which is surprisingly listenable.
This could soon end up on iTunes, Bed Intruder-ing its way onto the charts, maybe even making cash for some lucky 4channer. Users have really gotten behind this forced meme, and it's just clean enough to get picked up on more mainstream blogs. Like us!
