On last night's episode of Lopez Tonight, Antoine Dodson premiered the holiday remix of his popular 'Bed Intruder' song, aptly titled 'Chimney Intruder'. My question for everyone: when are we going to gracefully bow out of this trend? Soon? Never?
Clearly there's still an audience for it (he did win our Meme of the Year award after all), and there's no denying that the video brings lulzy lyrics ("Santa ain't my ho-ho-ho homeboy", come on), but how much more Auto-Tuning and "Hide your ___, hide your ____" are we willing to endure before we send 'Bed Intruder' to a really nice farm up in Vermont? You know, one where it has the space to play and run free with the other retired memes?
I'm not saying I won't be sad to see it go, I'm just saying it might be time for Antoine to take some bigger steps artistically.
In the meantime, he's still getting media attention, so the meme lives on. Meme on, Antoine. Meme on.
