Christmas specials are a dime a dozen on television. Perhaps the most infamously awful holiday special came courtesy of the Star Wars franchise in 1978, when the Star Wars Holiday Special aired, following Chewie and Han Solo's attempt to go home to Chewie's family so they can celebrate "Lifeday." Yikes. Even with Bea Arthur on board, the special is known as a major dud, one George Lucas virtually refuses to talk about (except for the time he said, "If I had the time and a sledgehammer, I would track down every copy of that show and smash it").
So with Tron reemerging as a must-see holiday movie this season (if you're into that kind of thing), this spot-on parody of a vintage Christmas special (by Urlesque friend Scott Gairdner) is a hilarious, irresistible time capsule.
