Do you ever feel like contemporary pop songs could use a few more words? Well, a YouTuber called Okay Samurai has taken care of that for you in his new acoustic mashup "Extraneous Lyrics." He takes the year's biggest hits, from Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Bieber and more, and gives them the Joseph Ducreux treatment.
These new verbose, grandiloquent and prolix lyrics are a lot funnier than the originals. For example, Cee-Lo's "If I was richer / I'd still be with ya" becomes "If I had a higher gross annual income / we would still be in a relationship" and Taio Cruz's "I wanna celebrate and live my life" becomes "I would like to commemorate and also experience the human condition."
And yeah, okaysamurai somehow fits all those extra words into the same space as the original, shorter lines. Well played, sir. Well played.

Ha! A friend of mine and I were doing this in junior high. J.Lo's "I'm Real" became "I am non-artificial" and the lyrics "North Carolina, come on and raise up. Take your shirt off. Twist it around your head. Spin it like a helicopter" became, "North Carolina, please engage in raising up. Unburden yourself of your blouse. Rotate it around your cranium in a motion similar to that of a flying aircraft."
