How do you pick a web video of the year? You could vote for the best-made, most creative video. You could choose the one that got the most views, or that you saw the most on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. Of course, you also could pick the video that inspired the most and best parodies.

However you define "Video of the Year," these five nominees certainly rank near the top. So, which one will you choose to represent 2010?

Antoine Dodson (Original News Clip)

While the Gregory Brothers and their Bed Intruder Song certainly deserve some of the credit for Antoine Dodson's fame, the sincerity and heart of Antoine's original TV news rant are what made him a star.

The original Bed Intruder video gives us raw, unedited Antoine, before millions of people started paying attention to him. He's just one (very emotional, very flamboyant) man expressing genuine concern for his sister and his community, and it's obvious that the internet responded to that. Whether you mocked him or admired him this year, you have to admit that Antoine Dodson really made the most of a bad situation.

He's not done yet, either. Look for Antoine's new single in 2011.

Double Rainbow Original Video ("Yosemitebear Mountain Giant Double Rainbow 1-8-10")

Before the remixes, before the songs, before the parodies ... there was just a man and a rainbow. The original Double Rainbow video, starring Paul "Bear" Vasquez, is the purest form of joy you can find on YouTube, and it connected with millions of viewers this year. It's like we were all right there with Bear in Yosemite Park, wondering, "What does it mean?"

Greyson Chance Singing 'Paparazzi'

While 13-year-old Greyson Chance may not be as big as Justin Bieber -- who's got his own entire category in this year's Urlies -- he is an internet-made pop star who's bound to be huge over the next couple of years. Greyson was discovered when his school talent show performance of Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" went viral on YouTube. Next thing you know, he was whisked away to the Ellen Show, where he took a phone call from Lady Gaga herself.

Greyson's got a recording deal now, but he'll probably always be remembered as the kid who performed a spot-on Gaga impression when he was 12. Established recording artists would give up hard drugs for up to a week for the kind of YouTube juice Greyson generated all by himself.

Merton's Chatroulette Piano Improv ("Chat Roulette Funny Piano Improv #1")

Chatroulette was one of the most exciting new web services of early 2010, allowing users to video chat with random strangers and hit "next" if they didn't like what they saw. And Merton, a wacky pianist with some serious improv chops, was Chatroulette's king.

Merton hung out on Chatroulette, wearing his trademark glasses and hoodie, and sang about everyone he saw. His ditties were funny and original, and he had enough talent that people mistook him for Ben Folds. That is, up until Merton and the real Ben Folds appeared on video together, months later.

Merton's first YouTube compilation, pulled from his Chatroulette adventures, was significant because it brought his antics to viewers who wouldn't touch Chatroulette with a ten-foot pole. Chatroulette may have withered and dried up by the end of the year, but our affection for Merton lives on.

Trololo (Я очень рад, ведь я, наконец, возвращаюсь домой)

Eduard Khil, a Russian singer whose popularity peaked in the 1970s, got a second wind on YouTube thanks to a bizarre vocal version of a song called (loosely translated from the Russian, here) "I Am Glad I'm Finally Going Home." Instead of singing the words, Khil lets loose some jolly vocal improv, which is why this video came to be known simply as "Trololo."

A single-serving site, trololololololololololo.com, helped Khil's newfound international fame spread around the web, and sending that link to a friend became known as the "Russian Rickroll." At nearly 80 years old, Khil is still tro-lo-lo-ing along, thanks to the internet.

Honorable Mention: Cee-Lo Green 'F--- You' Music Video
