Ok, so at this point, it's fair to say that the Muppets own the internet. This year alone, Sesame Street has released (or been remixed and homaged in) a slew of videos online that have caught fire. And they've struck again, this time positioning Cookie Monster as a viable candidate to host Saturday Night Live, a la Betty White, whose career was single-handedly revived by Facebook, where a similar campaign now lives for the sweet-toothed muppet.
Cookie Monster's "audition tape" for SNL proves, once again, that the grown-ups at Sesame Workshop provide some of the funniest and gimmick-free material to rise to the top of the heap when it comes to online video. In this video alone, we see spoofs on Macgruber, Lady Gaga, and altogether the most legendary sketch show in the history of television. That takes balls. Big, blue felt balls.
By the way, this video is brought to you by the letters "U" and "H," for UH-MAZING. And also by the number one, because, well, it is!
