steve carellThe Will Ferrell/Adam McKay vehicle Anchorman may not have been a box office killer when it premiered in 2004, but in its afterlife on DVD, it's become a treasured cult comedy among audiences that go nuts for overconfident news anchor Ron Burgundy's absurd one liners (i.e. "Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'").

In fact, it's hard to say who chews the most scenery in the movie, considering the strong performances given by Ferrell, Paul Rudd and Fred Willard. But most would likely place their money on Steve Carell, whose weatherman, Brick Tamland, is more or less perpetually mentally comatose -- and it's hilarious.

Today, video footage from Carell's audition tape (which, for the record, has been around for months) -- and his delivery of Tamland's introduction to his audience (in which he professes a love for ice cream and pants) -- has surfaced, and the internet is lovin' it harder than a 2008 commercial for a Big Mac. Just try not to laugh as Carell simultaneously chokes and charms as Anchorman's soon-to-be scene-stealer.
