In the experiment, 100 normal, untrained housecats were brought to the Wembley, UK IKEA store and allowed to roam free overnight. Before the cats were released, their owners tried to forecast what they would do, but nobody really knew for sure.
Five camera crews, including an infrared camera for dark areas, followed the cats as they climbed over and under stacks of furniture. The whole thing was reduced to a 4-minute video, and some of the footage is quite beautiful. Of course, I'm not sure I would have let my own cat join in this experiment... one poor cat got trapped for a bit!

Cats are wonderful and are cleaner then kids...but...I would never trust my cats to let them loose in a warehouse...they could of knocked things onto another kitten .Some of them looked confused...my one cat could and would jump that barrier they put up because he can jump my 6 foot fence..What if there was a huge fight??????that would not be in the article ...would it??

social experiment? an ad? it really doesn't matter. I like how Ikea used some of the footage and incorporated it into an ad. I'm sure it wasn't cheap but it was cute.

Touching. Cats are wonderful creatures and it was just fantastic seeing them to run free in big areas like IKEA. I'm sure almost all of them enjoyed it. Great video. I think I'll head off to IKEA now. :)
