It's the Friday before a long weekend, so let's watch some tiny turtles soaring through the air and believe anything is possible.
Also, as your YouTube sommalier, I'm including the song "Fly Like an Eagle" and I recommend playing it while you watch the bebehs for maximum enjoyment.

This is just stupid and cruel. So glad you humans are amused at the distress of a vulnerable creature. Laugh hard.

Dude, They are being CARRIED TO THE SEA!
God talk about over reacting. The more turtles that make it to the sea the better chances they have of living a full, healthy life. They were just filming the trip down the beach. You can blame Urlsque for not posting that they are being SAVED FROM CRABS, SEAGULLS, RATS, DOGS, CATS & whatever else is hungry!

I think that girl was crying, stifling a sob, at the thought of these poor baby turtles and what a long road of survival lies ahead for them. God bless them for trying to save as many as possible.

They aren't helping those babies - turtles are supposed to imprint on the sand to remember the beach.

ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING FLORIDA STATUTE, IT IS ILLEGAL TO HARASS THESE BABY SEA TURTLES....
In 1995, the Florida Legislature passed the Marine Turtle Protection Act (MTPA), giving DEP the authority to enforce regulations protecting the green, leatherback, hawksbill, Kemp's ridley, and loggerhead sea turtles.[164] DEP was instructed to implement its re sponsibilities under the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) recovery plans for the five species of sea turtles.[165] The MTPA states that "no person may take, possess, disturb, mutilate, destroy, cause to be destroyed, sell, offer for sale, transfer, molest, or harass any marine turtle or its nest or eggs at any time."[166] "Take" is defined as an act which kills or injures sea turtles, including "significant habitat modification or degradation that kills or injures marine turtles by significantly impairing essential behavioral patterns, such as breeding, feeding, or sheltering."[167]

not to be so much as a tree hugger but big whoop. the helped the turtles get to sea where they will be gobbled up by fish or shrimp. if they want to actually be productive they could take a few years to get the turtles to a size they wouldn't be food for an invertebrate and have a lil bigger chance.

"The more turtles that make it to the sea the better chances they have of living a full, healthy life".........Actually the correlation between those thoughts isn't automatic. The ones that don't make it to the sea are culled from the population. The ones that make it have a better chance of surviving - meaning making it through the harrowing journey and the attendent stress that wakes up their behavioral systems. That's why simply picking them up and carrying them to the sea isn't always successful. Sometimes it is "too many targets" that attact sea birds and aquatic predators that might not detect a smaller number of hardier turtles. Sorry folks, nature is almost never simple or nice - and that is what our culture worships. (While pretending to love nature - the most bloodthirsty, callous, cold-blooded killer in the history of the world. The closest thing to Mother Nature is the Hindu Goddess Kali.)

"This is just stupid and cruel. So glad you humans are amused at the distress of a vulnerable creature. Laugh hard.".........I will. That's because stress from the moment of birth is a necessary factor to wake up physiological and behavioral systems that create an animal that might survive. Example: Pen-raised pheasants are easier to kill than wild-raised pheasants. That is only one example, but your concept that lack of stress is a good thing is almost never the case. Instead, you raise "hot house flowers" who die quickly when they have to deal with the rigors of nature. Ever watched the struggle that goes along with getting out of a shell? How horrible for nature to make the baby turtle writhe and struggle, right? Nope.

To clear the air, I am one of the biologists carrying these hatchlings to the water. I work under a federal permit and my job involves digging up the nests post hatching to count the eggs and save stragglers. These babies would not have survived without our help.
