In this edition of Best of the Week on Vimeo, the sublime and the ridiculous run hand in hand into the internet sunset.
We've got some surprisingly beautiful footage of normally ugly things, ranging from a severed head to hungry sharks and a nauseated wasted girl.
So let's start with the sexy barfing, shall we?
In this music video for "Pigeons" by The Hundred in the Hands, don't be put off by our hungry heroine's initial party foul. Soon that vom turns into sparkles, smoke and fluorescence, and in no time, the video becomes a three minute detour through a parallel universe where being completely hammered is as glamorous and choreographed as a Calvin Klein ad. Cool universe there.
This perfectly economical sketch called "Floating Head" from Waverly Films (already an old YouTube classic) will remind you the truth of the expression "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone." Oh, the dramatic highs and lows of the normal dude/evil floating head relationship!
We're not sure exactly what to call surf explorer Chuck Patterson -- ballsy, crazy, amphibious? -- but with a waterproof camera mounted onto a pole, he managed to capture sharks up to nine feet long. Watch as they cut through the water toward him, circle his surfboard and politely inquire when dinner's gonna be ready.
