For thousands of years we've seen humans clear high jumps and hurdles in the Olympic games, but isn't it time rabbits took their turn?

It is time, actually -- it's called Rabbit Hopping, and it's the new sport sweeping the nation (of Denmark).

It started in 1980 in Sweden when people first started putting their rabbits in harnesses, but has since spread in Europe due to its apparent awesomeness. Now, after decades of refining the art, hoppers have built a complete rulebook and more crazy hopping courses than there are levels of MarioKart.

After the break, more Rabbit Hopping photos and video, where the names of the jumps, rabbits and handlers sound like very fancy Ikea items!

This hopping rabbit is named Gaunbys Hr. Mand, as handled by Aase Bjerner:

Here's Cathrine Poulsen's rabbit mastering the 3-eren jump:

Here's everyone's favorite rabbit, Hindbærgårdens Black Jack. Go, Hindbærgårdens Black Jack, go!

And here's Rasmus Bjerner's rabbit, Bygholms "Great Champion" Ditte, straight up acing the Juletræet jump!

And aww, look at little Mimrelunds Barske Bølle. No rabbit has ever looked cuter on the Regnbuen.

And if that wasn't enough for you, there's plenty of video of rabbit hopping:
