Urlesque Catfight
Ding ding ding! Paws have been taped and it's time for the first round of the Catfight to begin. (What is Catfight? Allow us to explain.)

To start, for the first half of round 1, we've paired up the web's most vintage cats -- those who have been around these here interwebs longer than their web littermates. They know their way around both the darkest and sunshiney-est corners of the web. Is one of these Old School cats worthy of the internet cat championship title? You tell us.
You'll have until Midnight ET on Sunday to vote for these Old School cat-petitors as well as the New School kitties whose voting starts tomorrow. (Update: Voting now closed, see who won!) We'll announce the eight victors on Monday which will bring us that much closer to declaring the Furryweight Champion of the web. This isn't a game, it's a battle -- as the rapper T.I. said before going to jail, "Big sh*t poppin', and little sh*t stoppin'."

(1) Happycat vs. (8) Angry Cat
Happycat vs. Angry Cat
Our first match-up in the Old School division is the #1 seed, Happycat, versus the #8 Angry Cat. While Happycat may be better established as the first lolcat and original face of I Can Has Cheezburger, Angry Cat is arguably our scariest competitor, a cat with a scream so ferocious he's able to make children poop pairs of pants they're not even wearing. Happycat may be more lovable, but Angry Cat has the ability to release demons across the internet and screech like Mischa Barton with her hair caught in a car door. Who will it be?

(2) Longcat vs. (7) Ceiling Fan Cat
Longcat vs. Ceiling Fan Cat
The next two competitors going head to head are Longcat and Ceiling Fan Cat. Longcat (who is usually seen battling nemesis Tacgnol) is indeed the longest of cats and has the advantage of being able to stretch (probably) all the way across America. On the other hand, Ceiling Fan Cat is perhaps our most injury-prone contender, making him a likely winner of pity votes. Will Longcat dwarf the world with his incredible length or will Ceiling Fan Cat swing through to the next round?

(3) Ceiling Cat vs. (6) Monorail Cat
Ceiling Cat vs. Monorail Cat
In the match-up of Ceiling Cat (link NSFW) versus Monorail Cat, there's a lot to consider: Who's more innovative, the cat that renders himself a mode of transportation usually reserved for Disney World, or the cat that turns others' very personal moments into a kitty spectator sport? Who's more daring, the cat who risks traveling at high speeds without an inspection sticker or the cat on the verge of falling out of his peephole? The decision is yours to make, ladies and gentlecats.

(4) Serious Cat vs. (5) Limecat
Serious Cat vs. Limecat
Last up for the Old School's first round are Serious Cat and Limecat, two contenders that share an air of authority and wisdom. Serious Cat is a majestic kitty whose face is weird in an "I respect you" sort of way, like Sir Ian MacKellen. In the other corner, though Limecat's Grecian-style fruit helmet lends him importance, the internet a study from the Limecat Research Institute reveals it's actually a pomelo, not a lime. (Gasp!) So who wins, a very cute Limecat who lives a lie or the no-nonsense Gandalf cat?
