ipads + velcro
This week's edition of Best of the Week on Vimeo is all about throwing away practicality and giving in to your most basic urges: power, entertainment, and Portuguese home movies. Okay, that last one probably doesn't fit what we're going for but at least we'll entertain you with another look at some of the best content Vimeo has to offer.

iPad + Velcro
by Jesse Rosten
Apple's latest device has a lot of uses and while conventional thinking says those functions can only be accessed with the iPad in your hands, Jesse Rosten shows us differently. Utilizing a few strips of Velcro, Rosten shows us what is possible with the device. We, like the director of this video, don't condone trying anything that may harm yourself or others, but we certainly think there are some great ideas available to you. Just don't drop it, for the love of everything that is holy.

Salesman Pete Trailer
by Salesman Pete
The animated trailer for an upcoming student short film, Salesman Pete, has a somewhat The Incredibles vibe to it. A seemingly ordinary gentleman has some extraordinary abilities and uses it to tackle fierce foes, solve crimes ... and iron shirts. Ironing, the most terrifying ability in the world. Am I right?

Son of a Don
by Jamie Winterstern
Son of a Don is a great short film starring Carlo Rota (TV's 24) as a take-no-prisoner mafioso and overprotective father, trailing his son all the way to his college dorm. It's extremely funny, even when some of the character traits are poking fun at America's love of the made man.

"bit and run" -- Mario's Ladder
by Cory Godbey
There are a few points to be made about bit and run: It's beautiful and reveals something haunting about Nintendo's classic Super Mario franchise. Although only hints of the work it's inspired by shine through in both the art style and music -- redone here in a slow, piano medley -- it will be immediately recognizable to anyone who has played Mario's original adventure.

Mementos
by Nuno Rocha
That's not a tear in my eye, okay. I was chopping onions earlier. And I drank a can of soda too quickly. Also, I blew my nose really hard and bit my lip. All of these factors have contributed to these watery eyes you see before you. I assure you it has nothing to do with this beautiful short-film about the power of the human spirit and the clarity of LG televisions. Actually, it might have something to do with the TVs because those sets are CRISP.
