They're definitely not 'bad,' though. These are the only postcards that I would ever want to send.

There's so much going on in our country and the rest of the world, yet AOL just keeps pumping out useless articles like this... On top of that, they don't let the public leave coments on the important subjects, only on bullshit topics like this one. AOL, you're a joke!!!

Well What you say is true. There are things like most of the world not knowing that the strontium that we are depositing on the oil to break it down is actually about as radioactivily damaging as the Hiroshima bomb. Or the fact that the half life (the time required for elements to decay) is almost seventy something years and yet we deposite over sixty tons of it. Here is the thing Mr, Campbell us, being the human beings we are need the distraction from our lives. otherwise we would be worse off. It is understood that we only see 10% of the world on average in America, but dont shrug off the afteraffect of knowing that the world is torrentially falling down around you. The full understanding of this requires a good education, but the biggest problem is that it makes living and continuing to keep the global economy up realy difficult.

I GOT ONE THAT BEATS THEM ALL.
IT WAS 1966, AND I JUST MOVED TO LOS ANGELES, GOT A PLACE WITH A BACKYARD, AND A BBQ. THEN I FOUND THESE INVITATION CARDS TO GET A PARTY STARTED WITH SOME NEW FRIENDS...
THE FRONT OF THE CARD HAD A PIC OF A DONKEY AND SAID "WE ARE BARBEQUEING A DONKEY TONIGHT" AND INSIDE WAS "AND YOU ARE INVITED TO COME OVER FOR A PIECE OF A**" (ASTERISKS SUBSTITUTED). A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL! I STILL HAVE ONE OF THOSE CARDS.

In our collective consciousness, we seem to recall a postcard (circa 1970) of an obeliscal structure your kind designates as the Washington Monument, listing it as "a national erection." We will add both it and your cultural distinctiveness to our own. Your erection will become the erection of the Collective. Resistance is futile. Your protests are irrelevant. You will be assimilated.

why are these "the only postcards I'd ever want to send" true, these are cute and funny, but I don't see anything old-fashioned when you're in Paris sending a postcard of the Eiffel Tower to someone at home! It's a way of showing them you're thinking of them, even so far away, and showing them a glimpse of something they may never get to see themselves. Of course you can also send online postcards, etc., but a postcard you have to go out and buy, with a stamp that you have to go out and buy, shows you care a little more. Don't try to appear so "modern" by scorning regular postcards! They're cheaper than a letter, and a nice travel souvenir as well!

Shut up, let a little fun in your life. And if you have a problem with what AOL has on their news reports, then do everyone a favor and DON'T READ IT and there won't be a problem. =) jerk

My favorite card from 50 or 60 years ago:
"EGADS HOMER!" printed on a postcard showing a tent in the woods with a "Just Married" sign and an elephant standing ouside with his trunk sticking through the flap.

I remember the post cards from the 50's and 60's. I even saw some of the cards that were used in WWII. They are classics. Wish they still made them. The internet has mostly done away with cards.

Does anyone stop to think this humor, fun, take your mind off all the "real news" "bad news" "doom & gloom", take time to lighten up for a few minutes, the bad will still be there.

Yeah, this article had some pretty weak content, but what are you gonna do? Like complaining to AOL sure seems to help. My fave postcard was from when I moved to Martha's Vineyard to live, and I got abig stack for all my friends that said,"Scenery is here, wish you were beautiful."
