
Because Calvin is a kid, he doesn't seem totally delusional, the way Garfield's owner Jon Arbuckle did when Garfield Minus Garfield took the cat out of the strip. These also aren't as disturbing as that parody comic where Calvin's parents put him on ADD meds, and he starts ignoring Hobbes and doing his homework (it's too sad to link to, you should Google it yourself if you want your heart broken). Some people have seen madness in Calvin Minus Hobbes, but I just see run-of-the-mill grownup cynicism.
