Getting arrested sucks, but the unpleasantness of it all doesn't stop thousands of people from being apprehended every day -- and, to be fair, not everyone who gets nabbed is even close to what most would consider a criminal. Mugshots can tell us a lot; some spice up their gloomy trip by maintaining a cheerful attitude through the booking process, the results of which are funny and sometimes endearing mugshots.

Others are unintentionally hilarious and their mugshots are proof that the ravages of drug addiction and street life can occasionally be funny (to others). I'm sorry, but these photos are funny! Crack Granny is my favorite! Are they sure Tweety Bird's Granny was selling crack? And the guy with half a beard is cute. I'd go out with him, even after this photo array which is a little disturbing. Hope he didn't do anything too bad. Obviously some of these folks are muggin' for the camera. I'm inspired. Who knows one day I may get arrested. I'm going to start practising for my photo. Maybe I can get in this gallery.

I don't understand why everyone is feeling so sorry for these people..these are mug shots, do you know what that means?? It means they did something they shouldn't have been doing, and then got caught doing it. I see nothing wrong with laughing. These people are not victims. I agree its messed up to laugh just because someone looks weird or is ill but I do NOT feel sorry for people who mess up other's lives by stealing, committing hit and runs, assaulting people, doing drugs even though they knew the life altering risks, ect. I save my compassion for people who deserve it, not people who would probably stab me just for the money in my purse so they can go buy more meth.

The people with mental and physical disabilities that get hooked on meth do it for a reason, because their lives are so miserable that it's the only way out. You think people look at a methhead and think "oh, it would be so cool if I could be like that! Meth sounds like a fun recreational drug!" No, they don't say that, and that's not why they start. They also don't say "oh, I'm going to go on a binder and run somebody over, or go snatch a purse for some drugs" because it's a fun thing to do, they do it because they're honestly fucked up in the head, and should be receiving mental and medical treatment.

As a person with a couple of really fun mental health issues, and as a person whose mother is addicted to meth, I find these pictures hilarious. I'm guessing that many of the people who are preaching have no idea what life is like for the people whose mug shots are on this site and can't relate one bit.

Yes, mental retardation is sad, drug addiction is sad, poverty is sad, everything in the world is fucking sad. What are you going to do about it? Probably not a god damn thing. You'll sit at your desk, typing on your expensive computer about how unfair it is to make fun of people, how unfortunate the latest natural disaster was, how you wish there weren't so many poor people around.

Yet somehow, I never see any of these suburbanite, upper middle class bleeding hearts to a damn thing to help others. It's always the people who have nothing to spare who are the most generous to others and the least judgmental. If you don't believe me, wait until your car breaks down in a rich neighborhood. Tons of people in beautiful new cars will pass you by without a second look. It's only the exhausted woman coming home from serving the rich, entitlement minded bastards at McDonald's or wherever who will stop and give you a hand.

Practice what you preach or shut the hell up.

While I hesitate to own it, Mr. Ray of Sunshine is my ex. He's no meth addict, is probably slightly mentally ill, but all around deserves this. Thanks Stumbleupon for making my week.
