You may not recognize this face, but there's a good chance you've seen her in a viral video called Jessica's "Daily Affirmation" (video after the jump). In the video, a four-year old Jessica defiantly stands on top of a bathroom sink and affirms her ability to grab life by the horns.
"I can do anything good," she declares, pumping her fists and telling the mirror who's boss.
Jessica's almost a teenager now and we were thrilled to find out she wasn't too cool to do a video talk with us from her home in Los Angeles.
We chatted about her recent rise to internet celebrity, her friends' and family's reaction to the clip and what she's up to now that she's all-growns-up.
And here's the original footage of Jessica doing her "daily affirmation."

She was cute as a little tyke and still is really cute and bubbly. I love how her interests are still so diverse! She wants to be a designer... or a lawyer! Go girl! Whatever you want to do, I think you'll do well with your attitude!

this is quite possibly the worst interview i've ever watched. why did you not ask about the actual clip itself. instead you simply probed this preteen for gossip and nonsense. why not ask if she's still as motivated today? that seems like the obvious question to ask to me. idiots.

Why so negative? It seemed an appropriate interview for a 12 year old. He asked enough about the clip; she explained how it ended up on youtube. What would you expect someone to say about a video clip made when she was 4 years old---what her motivation was for the recitation? I'm pleased that he asked her about her life nowadays and what she plans for her future. Lovely young woman. We see what she did at age 4!

Dude I was wondering the same thing! That was like the worst interview ever. Did you even prepare for that due, or did you just do it on the fly thinking you were charismatic enough to pull it off? FAIL!

Sounds like a well-grounded, down to earth young lady. Knows how to present
herself and has a wonderful vocabulary for her age. Esp. when considering
today's fluff heads.
I wish her well in whatever goals she eventually sets for herself. Somehow, I
think she'll make it. ;-)

Amazing young lady, very articulate. Loved both videos. Proof of what affirmations and great parenting can do for a child. She looks very secure with herself. Wonderful.

Her window of opportunity was at four years old when she was cuter. I think the interviewer did what he could after the discovery that the 4-yr old Jessica is long gone. It is an interesting testimony to our choices for multiple destinies: if her Dad had marketed that video in real-time, Jessica may have been in a completely different space. But, since Dad decided to allow his daughter a childhood, she is the seemingly well rounded, tween we see today. I admire the parental decisions. Being the Mom of 12 yr old twins, I think everyday, should I push this future or that future... You know what I mean?

The question I was waiting for: Do you still do daily affirmations in the mirror?

It is great to have a child starting out the day with such enthusiasm for life. I do question letting her stand on the counter top as she could have fallen off. Children should have their feet on the floor! That said, she is a lovely young lady and am sure she will succeed in life! Good parenting!

I wish the interviewer had asked if she did affirmations daily. Who taught her this? Does she still do them and how frequently? Does she attribute her current success (straight A student) to doing daily affirmations? How does she feel affirmations have affected her own life? She seems like a tiny Tony Little with that force and energy - how much is just heredity and how much can be learned through affirmations?
