Tarantula hawks: If you can think of a more terrifying sounding creature, we'd like to hear about it. Actually, y'know what? Scratch that. How about you just keep your nightmares to yourself.
The tarantula hawk is a species of spider wasp that can grow to up to 2 inches in length. A reasonable person would probably guess that it takes its name from the fact that it looks like a flying tarantula. Well, a reasonable person would be wrong.
The truth behind the name is even more horrifying than the thought of giant, hairy, poisonous flying spiders. The tarantula hawk is so-called because it eats tarantulas. To be more specific, it paralyzes female tarantulas with its giants stinger and eats their babies. Then, if the t-hawk is with child, it kills the spider, buries it in the ground and lays its own eggs inside of the tarantula so that the baby t-hawks have something to eat when they hatch. If that's not cold-hearted, we don't know what is.

You forgot to mention that tarantula hawks have the second most painful sting of every insect in the entire world.
