I was planning to leave my job that I had been working at for the last three years. I had confided in just one close friend that I was thinking about quitting.
So, that night, I typed my proper two-week notice in an attempt to do the most polite and professional thing. However, the very next day I was called into my manager's office.
My manager, who I am also friends with online, had a very serious look on his face. I knew I was in trouble right away. The one friend whom I had told my secret to had posted a comment on my page that said, "Congratulations! You've finally told that jerk to take this job and shove it!"
Since my boss saw the comment before I could even turn in my notice, I had a whole lot of explaining to do. No matter how many different ways I tried to word it, I just couldn't make up for the fact that those damaging words were already viewable by the public. I was fired on the spot.
Always remember to be careful what you post on your friends' pages - you never know who will see it.

Should have been the best thing to ever happen to the person. Getting fired for something someone else typed is not exactly what I term getting fired for cause.
