hannah after dentistRemember this gal? She charmed us with her post-wisdom teeth removal antics a few weeks back. Since then, she's been on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show.

Hailing from Topeka, Kansas, Hannah Manry studies math and statistics at KSU. While she doesn't necessarily consider herself "internet famous," she has been enjoying her newfound microcelebrity. Every once in a while, she gets a call from a friend saying "I just saw a YouTube video of you!"

Tell us a little about yourself, where you're from, what you're up to. Going to school? Got any hobbies?

I am from Topeka, KS. I go to school at Kansas State University and am currently in my second year. I live in a sorority with 75 girls and am a mathematics and statistics major. Between both of those, I am kept pretty busy. When I do have the time, though, I like to play harmonica. My uncle is a professional harmonica player and began teaching me when I was in high school.


When did you realize that you were "internet famous?"

Well, I still do not really feel that "internet famous." Everything that has happened still feels pretty unreal, as if it is happening to someone else. I was asked to rap the song on stage for Mom's Weekend at our sorority. When I started rapping, everyone else was singing along. I realized then that a lot of people must have been watching it if everyone knew the words to the song.


How have your family/friends reacted to your viral fame?

My friends are so excited about everything! When I was getting ready to leave to appear on the Ellen show, all of my friends offered their clothes and jewelry. It was the week of our midterms and, instead of studying, everyone was helping me prepare. My family thinks it is really funny how the whole thing has blown up so much. My mom (who was filming it) never imagined anyone outside of the family would ever see it and my sister had no idea that showing it to one of my sorority sisters would turn it into such a YouTube hit. I have a lot of friends that went to a different state for college. It's always funny when I get the random call of "I just saw a YouTube video of you!"


Tell us about the Carman connection? Why do you think you went for a decades-old song in that moment?

I had the Carman cassette tape when I was younger and, for some reason, I was really obsessed with that song. To this day, I still haven't gotten sick of listening to it and still do pretty regularly. I'm hoping that, after this, the song will make a comeback. :)


Have you gotten any recognition other than your appearance on the Ellen show?

The video has been played on numerous television shows, radio stations, online websites, and local news stations. But, the Ellen show has been my only appearance. It was a great experience. Everyone on the show was so nice and really made us feel at home. The atmosphere there was full of positive energy and it was definitely one of the greatest things that has come out of this.


Got a favorite internet video? Ever seen "David after Dentist?"

I have definitely seen "David after Dentist." I watched it multiple times when it first came out and specifically remember being home one weekend and showing it to my mom. My video may be funny, but you really cannot beat such an adorable little kid. Haha.
