Although the web is scattered with heaps and heaps of garbage, once in a while we sift through the rubbish and find a gem of a singer, which we like to consider our very own songbird.
Erin Paula, an aspiring dental hygienist in Los Angeles, probably already knows that Alicia Keys' 'Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart' is an incredibly challenging song to sing. Written to be sung at the top of its performer's range, the ballad is gorgeous, dripping with heartfelt desperation and redemption.
Luckily, Erin Paula is awesome.

Try listening to her without watching the video (voice only)... you'll hear her tone variance much better and recognize her talent more readily!
Great job!!

what was awesome? She can hit the notes but that's just a start. I found her interprertation a bit over-ornamented and disturbing due to the choppy phrasing. Could use some dynamics, timbre changes, and more musical phrasing, i.e. expression. It was more like an urban chant. That works with Joan Jett but not with this tune. A little vibrato variation would help, too. As I said, hitting the notes is essential but just the beginning.

What makes you think this woman can sing? She seems to have NO range and you can hear her every breath.

I thought it was awesome. Alicia Keys is NOT easy to sing. Thank you Simon Cowell for your overbearing judgemental critique of her performance. You're a jerk. Erin you're a beautiful girl and you have a gift. Maybe YOU can be our next American Idol! Rock on girl!

For someone who's not a professional singer (yet), I thought she sounded amazing (better than many on the radio who can't actually sing), plus, I think she's beautiful and has a beautiful smile. Keep singing Erin!

if you think that was good check out Danielle Calato on you tube....this girl is amazing. I saw her preform live and everyones hair was standing up on their arms and tears were streaming down some of their faces. It is af if God was singing through her. Please believe me that even though you will see how good she is the home made quality does not do her justice.

Erin, you have a beautiful voice. Well done! Hope you keep singing and performing. Don't ever lose that sweet smile and personality - that's all part of your music and what you have to offer. Best of luck to you!

Same old tired style that has been around for a decade, I'll hear this again comming out of somebodys trunk lid, and the back up will be the body parts of the car vibrating to the beat. It would be nice for someone, anyone to come up with a brand new style for once.

Erin Paula, keep on singing. You are so good! I enjoyed listening. You should be recording instead of some of those so called singers out there. For those of you who don't know diddily-swat about singing, please keep guiet.
