You may have a family dog, but we'd be willing to bet good money that you don't have a family deer. And with good reason! They're pests: They eat your plants, leave pellets in your yard and carry ticks.
Why would you ever want a family deer? Well, how about to play soccer with your dog? What would that be like? Would you watch it, mouth agape and eyes glued to the screen for four minutes and nine seconds straight? You tell us.
Can you resist?

I concur with the other users who have shown disdain on the person overseeing this.
The danger to the dog and the irresponsibility of the event is absurd.
Idiocy.

Yes it is cute...not, knowing that deer have very sharp hoofs. If that's what they are called :) I adore wildlife in nature, not too fond of deer in confinement..or their owners.

"Zoe" way worse than a wild animals in confinement...
Anyone who passes judgement.
Most likely that dear is a rescue. You see that fence? When the dear is ready I'm sure he'll leave.
It's a fence not a cage.

Our fence is about this height and the only deer that can't clear it relatively easily are very young. We do open the gate when young ones get stuck though.

I guess you yould do more research then. That deer can jump that fence anytime he wants to. Unless it is a rescued animal and can't because of that. common sense budy...

One concern I have is how severely the deer is flailing it's legs... he could easily take out the dog's eyes or lacerate him, which of course would be painful and could lead to reduced function (for example, if muscle is cut or otherwise damaged enough, it could be replaced by scar tissue, which cannot contract and extend like muscle, which has obvious practical implications).
While I agree it is obvious the dog is enjoying the play, he doesn't necessarily know the danger of what he is doing. I think people do (or at least can). Accepting your pet's disfigurement or death via play because he enjoyed it is an interesting perspective, to say the least.

I particularly like the end, where we see the two cats on the porch watching the whole thing.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, all that was said is pure supposition. Accept it for what it is like the cat. Cute entertainment and respoect for nature. I loved it and thanks to the family that provided the video.

You should open the gate, let the deer come and go as it wishes. The deer kicks the dog but when the dog puts a move on the deer he's told to back off?! Free the deer, just a reminder..the deer is a WILD animal..open the gate.

Might I remind anyone that, dogs are/were wild animals too. To think that a deer does not have the same or near concious abilities as the dog is just not factual. I know of a few families with dears (old and young together) as pets;per say. And when they have a new born, they eventually have pranced them down to the "Land owners" in a type of Pride; as a parent would have. This world holds many beauties if we just watch and don't judge.

You should go to jail for this. This is animal cruelty. This is like setting up dog fights. You should be ashamed of yourself. This deer and dog should be given to the state and off your evil, filthy hands. I can't believe this. I might just report this. You are absolutely doing something that does not fall under your rights. You should not be enjoying such bad and filthy activities such as this. You should have jumped in there and separated this. that dog or that deer were under extreme threats - yes it may have not appeared that way. But this is pure neglect on your part. You should be ashamed of yourself. People who know animals and how to handle them would never even THINK about placing these two animals in the same fence together. BAD ON YOU!!! - It is reasons like this that we should have laws to prevent people like you from doing this!!

Take a chill pill Jessica.I suppose you would have left the young buck I RESCUED from the state highway to be crushed or worse have a family killed trying to avoide the fawn.I rescued two deer last year both played with dogs kids and cows.Booth were released to the wild, one goes to sit with with my neighbor on his deer stand.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The dog's obviously enjoying it. The deer is obviously enjoying it. The talking was just to keep the dog going, nothing abusive to either one. If either animal wanted to stop the play, they could, at any time. That deer was not stuck in the yard either. The small wooden fence is not a challenge for a deer to jump over. You're being ridiculous! That video was awesome! I just hope that the dog was checked for ticks afterwards.
