The perfect time to dance, is when you've got a gun dangling from your body. Granted, guns don't go off just by shaking them, but there's probably a reason you don't see any television shows called "Dancing with Guns". Not everyone is carrying a piece, like these cute adorable animals with guns, but these dancing police officers, shimmying security guards, and twisting traffic cops may be armed.Luckily dancing cops have been caught on camera by brave videographers and uploaded before their cameras could be confiscated. Videotaping law enforcement is all fun and games until someone gets arrested. Unfortunately, some of these videos don't have music, but maybe YouTube's closed captioning can transcribe the lyrics for the ones that do? First, check out an Urlesque-exclusive compilation video followed by all the individual gems.

You missed one of the original (and best) of the "dancing" policemen: Vic Cianca, Pittsburgh's "dancing cop" of the 60's. Vic was world famous: he appeared on Allen Funt's "Candid Camera" and on "On the Road," the Charles Kuralt travelogue on CBS, and had a bit part in the movie "Flashdance." He counted, among his friends, Perry Como, Bing Crosby and Luciano Pavarotti.
Here's a video of one of Vic's "performances": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5pmA04sOwc
Officer Cianca died just a couple months ago, at the age of 92.

As soon as I read the article I was wondering if anyone remembered this all started way back in the 60s. Vic was one of the best, but he really wasn't considered the "first." The first dancing cop, such as it was, was a London police officer whose manner of directing traffic was set to symphonic music and ultimately made him look as if he were conducting. That opened the door for Vic and everyone else thereafter. And the London cop was shown on Candid Camera, too.

We all know how hateful cops have become (giving tickets when an infraction is MORE than questionable). In general people seems harsher and less human today. What a difference to see the nice side of the police force. Why criticize someone for being normal? If you aren't going to make a fuss when a police officer does something outright dishonest like give a bogus ticket - leave the nice & normal ones alone. Dancing cops are ok with me.
