Seasonal waterfalls are more common than you might think. It's early spring, the snow is melting, and oh, look, there just happens to be a cliff right there. Boom, a seasonal waterfall is born. But Yosemite's Horsetail Falls is a seasonal waterfall like none other. At sundown, when the sky is clear and the heart is pure, the falls take on a flowing, golden, lava-like glow. Looks like someone has a little bit of volcano envy.
Inspired by photos of the falls he'd seen on Flickr, San Francisco based photographer Rob Kroenert set out for the Yosemite Valley on a hazy Thursday afternoon this past February. Three hours later, he was greeted by a crowd of twenty or so like-minded photographers and an inauspicious sea of high clouds. Luckily for Rob, the sky opened up and he was able to capture this stunning shot.
