While normally my name means something boring like "Linden trees near the water," according to Urban Dictionary I am "a girl who can drink most men under the table...seductive" as well as "when a woman rips all of the testicles off a male's body and consumes them." (<em>All</em> of the testicles.) Whether you consider me one or the other (let's face it, I'm actually both), I'm not the only one skipping the traditional interpretation of my name and heading right to the user-submitted one. I'm also not the only one publicizing my Urban Dictionary-defined name -- this trend has become the center of a Facebook viral movement.
We're not quite sure if this was started by Urban Dictionary or not (we've reached out to them for comment), but either way, here is the note that the site has on their very own Facebook page:
So, it's easy to play. What does your name really mean?
EDIT: We reached out to the great people of Urban Dictionary who informed us that they are apparently not behind the spreading meme. They are, however, quite pleased with the trend's popularity. Aaron Peckham comments:
Thanks for getting in touch. We didn't start the Urban Dictionary Facebook meme -- it came to us as a surprise! Many thanks to whoever started it! We've been working hard the past few days to make the site perform well, now that so many people are visiting. It will be interesting to see what happens next!
