exploding squashWinter squash is a bit of a misnomer when you consider that winter squash are planted at the same time as summer squash (the summer) and are only harvested a bit later. The main distinction between summer and winter squash is that summer squash are harvested when the fruit is still immature, whereas winter squash are harvested after the fruit has matured and hardened. This increases the shelf life of the squash, allowing it to be eaten well into the winter months. All right.
