If I had to choose to move up in a building, I'd choose the elevator. Once a guy tripped on the up escalator and fell down the stairs for an hour and a half.

Though, on the bright side, an escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. You should never see an "escalator out of order" sign. It should only say "escalator temporarily stairs".
