December is well under way, the tree is up in Rockefeller center and we here at Urlesque are starting to get into the holiday spirit. To help you celebrate along with us, I've compiled a list of the top 5 videos of non-traditional Christmas songs.

Look, I adore the standards as much as the next guy. Bing Crosby doing 'White Christmas'? Mariah Carey doing 'All I Want For Christmas Is You'? Classic. Love 'em. But sometimes you want something a little more... quirky.

5. Bob Dylan, 'Must Be Santa'


Okay, this song is pretty traditional, but the Bob Dylan version is decidedly not. I dig it: crazy polka beat, Dylan croaking out the verses like your drunken uncle, plus he starts chanting the names of presidents for some reason. The video definitely adds to the song, with Dylan wearing a loopy wig and awkwardly gesticulating in the middle of a raucous party.



4. Run-DMC, 'Christmas In Hollis'


Maybe you don't associate rap with Christmas, but the video for Run-DMC's 'Christmas In Hollis' is all kinds of awesome. How adorable is that "ill reindeer"?



3. Fountains of Wayne, 'I Want An Alien For Christmas'


This song is undeniably rocking and quirky. The fan-made video is even better. Santa rocking out on the beach, the alien jumping out of the tub, the insane flute solo... okay, maybe this guy has too much time on his hands, but it's his loss and our gain.



2. The Killers, 'Don't Shoot Me Santa'


Nothing says Christmas like a deranged Santa holding Brandon Flowers captive in the middle of the desert. Check out the gritty holiday mayhem in the video for The Killers' 'Don't Shoot Me Santa':



1. The Pogues, 'Fairytale of New York'


I apologize to British readers, because this video breaks the rules for them. 'Fairytale of New York' is a stone cold classic in England and this is perhaps the definitive live version. But for American readers, this should be a treat... just embrace Shane MacGowan's slurred vocals and crazy teeth and let the Christmas spirit sweep over you.
