Karl Pilkington ...genius or fool? I mean, yeah, fool. Definitely fool. Hearing him speak is a fascinating journey into the mind of a madman.
For those of you not familiar with Karl, he's the naively moronic whipping post of Ricky Gervais' world record breaking podcast (seriously, it's the most popular podcast ever with over 8 million downloads). The podcast's success can be directly attributed to Pilkington's almost childlike naivete. All Gervais has to do is ask Karl a question and the hilarious insanity just comes pouring out.
Check out this intro into the odd and inexplicable world of Karl Pilkington:
Oh god, it feels good to laugh. Of course, Pilkington didn't wind up on the podcast by accident. He ran a radio show with Gervais for years, during which Ricky honed the art of extracting Pilkington's quirkily humorous views. Here's Karl on the evolution of the stick insect:
It would be frightening if it weren't so funny. Karl is fascinated with animals and many of his best ponderings involve a misinterpretation of the animal kingdom. Here he is on armed dolphins:
Karl also tends to get pretty confused when confronted with even mildly challenging art. Here's his response to Brokeback Mountain:
Finally, my personal favorite...Karl Pilkington's diary:
God bless this man.
