I'm extremely indecisive, so I'm incredibly thankful for almost 6 years worth of smart Q & A's from the hive mind of Ask MetaFilter. Launched on December 8, 2003 with the question "Your favorite DVD commentary tracks?" Ask MetaFilter is a spin-off of Matt Haughey's popular community weblog MetaFilter. You have to pay to play (not much), but it costs nothing to browse.


It's a wealth of solid information with multiple viewpoints and helpful advice. It's awesome for holiday gift ideas, and sharing life-altering experiences, but it's really great for incredibly helpful advice like, "How to hop a freight train" or "Do you really need to duck when getting in/out of a helicopter?" The answers may surprise you...as might very loud noises...when you are not expecting them.
