sesame street remixesThough Google started the celebration a little early, 'Sesame Street' officially turns 40 today!

One of the most important parts of the show hasn't changed since 1969: the awesome music. Kids still get to learn about counting and the alphabet by singing along with suspiciously energetic puppets and a never-ending lineup of crazy-talented guest musicians.

In a few years, those kids will also learn that the show's catchy-as-the-dickens songs will be stuck in their heads FOREVER. Hopefully, they'll decide that they might as well just make the best of it, fire up the ol' internet and add to its already fantastic collection of 'Sesame Street' covers, mashups and remixes!

Eclectic Method - 'Sesame Street Remix'

Eclectic Method have worked with U2, Fatboy Slim and Public Enemy but their greatest accomplishment might be making Elmo and Emeril Lagasse seem downright funk-ay in this remix. We dare you not to dance:

'You Don't Have to Be (Fast)'

The "remixing" here is really just "playing the song at an insane tempo" but that doesn't make this any less mesmerizing. We watched it about 17 times before realizing it advocates using a spoon to eat honey straight from the jar.

We'd never suggest 'Dora the Explorer' and 'Blue's Clues' aren't good at teaching kids important life lessons or different ways to use the number '4' or whatever. They'll just always be a step below 'Sesame Street' until they inspire something that's half as cool as these two popular videos.

Sesame Street 'Slayer Sing Along'

'Cookie Monster Metal'

We have a feeling that if Cookie Monster can't repeat the success of 'C is for Cookie,' his insatiable cravings might drive him to grab some quick cash from a "late '90s Vanilla Ice"-style rap metal career.

'Subway' Remix

We didn't think this classic song could get any weirder and wilder than the original version. We were wrong:

Bert and Ernie - 'Ante Up'

Imagining Bert and Ernie as foul-mouthed rappers might be the internet's most wholesome interpretation of their relationship.

'Sesame Street Theme' - 8-bit version

No nerd music nostalgia would be complete without a chiptune remix!
