1) That's not Girl Talk. That's M.I.A.
2) "Tagging" first came about as artists of graffiti autographed their masterpieces. Then unartistic people thought they would be cool and just write their name or gang name. This article is more an example of graffiti, though I guess most people don't know the difference anyway.

yeah, listen to Jackola.
Graffiti is more like art, and tagging is like shitting all over everything. Mid 90's in California was hell as taggers scribbled ugly names all over everything multiple times.

not an expert but i thought that graffiti started by people just writing there names... tagging. and then the more sophisticated throw ups developed from that?
