Stephen Wiltshire is an artist and a savant. He didn't speak his first words until he was five years old, but when he did, they were words that would prove to define his life from that point on. These words were pencil and paper.
An autistic artist, Stephen Wiltshire draws and paints intricately detailed cityscapes purely from memory. But not very much of it. This 18-foot mural of New York, for example, is based on his recollections of a 30 minute helicopter ride over the city.
Wiltshire drew his first panoramic cityscape, a 52 foot drawing of Tokyo, in 2005 after another brief helicopter ride.
