In a new weekly feature, we investigate proud packrats who put their weird collections on display to the captive web audience. From Beanie Babies to stamps, Internet, show us your junk!
Stamp collecting is a pretty tried and true pastime, but not always one that really benefits from a YouTube video. Sure, we can learn about how to organize our stamps or use them as decorations, but the real glory of the stamp collection YouTube video is how to take stamps and turn them into an MTV music video, or learn more about Australians and robots, or even learn that stamp fans have YouTube names based on the Harry Potter series. All this takes stamp collecting from ho-hum to oh-boy!

My Stamp Collection! by MariAnne6297
MTV-style shooting on this one makes us a little nauseous. This person just started collecting stamps today, because their mom opens a "treasure chest thing-a-ma-bobber from a long time ago" and found a lot of stamps. Who's willing to bet this collection is forgotten under a bed now? (Further study has confirmed this girl has moved on to the greener pastures of bouncy ball collecting.)
My Stamp Collection by MarsBandit
This person would like to know if any of their stamps are valuable. We're not actually sure these stamps even belong to this person, because most of the pictures are blurry and look like they were stolen off the Internet. Maybe we've stumbled onto a new genre -- collection videos that are lies.
What Now - Stamp Collecting by whatnowz
Look, this video has a robot. A robot who, in chipper robot voice, gives a lot of narration at the start of this video, and is wearing a backwards baseball cap. All the humans are wearing hands-free mics, the kind that Britney Spears uses on a world tour. There's dance music on continuous loop in the background. Apparently they are talking about stamps but we are obviously distracted by everything else awesome going on in this video to actually learn anything.
STAMP COLLECTING IS DEAD THIS IS THE NEW COLLECTORS CHOICE by urbanforcerecords
It took us a while to understand what is going on in this video (Are things burning? What are those round disks? Why are the letters so wide?) Apparently they are tax discs, and you should "GET YOUR HANDS ON THE LATEST THING SINCE STAMPS AND START MAKING MONEY BEFORE EVERYONE ELSE DOES." But the real gold is in the comments:
- "Stamp collecting will never die. It's as popular as ever. Tax discs are boring and nobody cares about them except you." - stampguy1972
- "And one more thing: this video sucks." - stampguy1972
- "Just a comment about stamp collecting being "dead" - Stamps, believe it or not, are one of the most valuable commodities on earth (weight significance) and are constantly increasing in value. They are a major source for investors, with single items commanding $1,000,000 +.....but I guess that you already knew that, did'nt you (?). Good luck with your tax disc's." - HarrysCupboard
- "What are they? giant pogs?" -seeker007
- "dude! most of the time i could not read it cause of the fir" - bignatwolffan
