Gay politics is often at the center of the storm these days, and after seeing Milk (and, not co-incidentally, being stunned by California's vote on Proposition 8), Nathan Manske decided to take a stand. He gathered friends and colleagues to help him build and launch I'm From Driftwood, a blog that provides compelling first-person stories about coming out.
Even in the age when Will & Grace is in syndication and Ellen Degeneres is America's sweetheart, gay men and women are still very much maligned and struggling for equal rights and treatment. Reading the stories on I'm From Driftwood (and the videos, like the one below) illustrate that the community is still very much a minority, and the fight for justice remains steadfast. Furthermore, to hear personal stories that merely humanize the experience of being a gay individual can, in fact, prove inspirational to those both familiar and unfamiliar.
